The Global Institute for AI Innovation (GIAI) works at the intersection of artificial intelligence and arts technology. Its collaborations across industry, education and research cover AI music and integrated arts and technology education, with a focus on developing frameworks for AI-assisted artistic creation and bringing AI music courses into practical use. GIAI Music Director Li Dapeng focuses on the research and development of AI arts education and interdisciplinary arts and technology curricula.

Li Dapeng graduated from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in recording arts and computer music. He began exploring intelligent music while still a student and went on to design music products and game music at digital entertainment companies including Yuheding and Sichuan Changcheng Software. He has witnessed the development of China’s digital entertainment industry from its early stages to the era of large AI models. He later worked extensively in music entrance-exam education, teaching music theory and conducting educational research. His experience in curriculum design and teaching gave him a detailed understanding of the practical needs of music education and became a foundation for his work connecting AI with arts education.
Li’s goal is to make music creation education more accessible through AI. Professional skills traditionally studied systematically at undergraduate or postgraduate level, including music theory, the four core composition disciplines, digital audio workstations, recording and mixing, can become learning activities that young people begin with the help of AI. Drawing on nearly twenty years of creative practice and product development, he has developed an AI arts and technology curriculum built around the two directions of “music technology × technology-led music.” It connects creative training, practical tool use and project work in a complete learning cycle, covering learners from early childhood through university and supporting the development of music technology professionals. Based on GIAI’s international industry, education and research platform, the curriculum addresses arts education and youth innovation in China. Future work will draw on GIAI’s international exchange network to share AI music education approaches overseas and develop standardized, repeatable courses and teaching outcomes.
GIAI says the value of AI in the arts goes beyond generating content. Alongside AI arts education and digital approaches to traditional culture, there are further possibilities in AI music, multimodal art generation, digital arts education, human-machine collaboration and youth innovation. GIAI will continue researching AI music teaching and technological innovation, exploring new possibilities for the digital development and international sharing of Chinese musical culture.
